Shrewsbury, NJ (March 16, 2016) For the first time, The Community YMCA’s Aquarockets swim team won the New Jersey YMCA State Championships, an annual competition comprised of two meets.

A total of 139 swimmers from the Aquarockets team competed in the state championship meets. The 13 and Over competition took place March 10-13 at Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster, PA, while the 12 & Under was February 26-28 at the Ocean County YMCA in Toms River.

Both the Girls and Boys team captured first place overall, along with the 15-18 boys, 13-14 girls, 11-12 girls and 9-10 boys.

The team’s combined performance at the two meets resulted in the overall state championship. “We are truly proud of our team and all their hard work this season,” said Head Coach Jack Caucino, adding that the team is gearing up to compete in the 2016 National YMCA Short Course in Greensboro, NC on April 4-8 with 34 qualifying swimmers.
