Swim season is here and The Community YMCA welcomes new candidates in our Lifeguard Certification Courses serving our aquatics locations at the Red Bank Family Health & Wellness Center, Oceanport Swim Club and Camp Zehnder in Wall.

Through classroom learning and hands-on practice in and out of the water, you’ll learn: Surveillance skills to help you recognize and prevent injuries, rescue skills – in the water and on land, first aid training and professional rescuer CPR with AED.


Lifeguard candidates who are certified and commit to 10 hours/week this summer, July 1-Sept. 3, 2018, will be reimbursed in full for the cost of the certification course.

After the Pre-Test is passed, you may register for a full course:

  • Monday, July 2 | 10 a.m.-3 p.m.
  • Tuesday, July 3 | 10 a.m.-3 p.m.
  • Thursday, July 5 | 10 a.m.-3 p.m.
  • Friday, July 6 | 10 a.m.-3 p.m. (including re-certifications)

Candidates must attend all four scheduled classes, there are no make-ups.


$350 | including $20 Pre-Test fee

Course fees include American Red Cross Lifeguarding, First Aid, CPR & AED, as well as a resuscitation mask. Student manual can be downloaded online at www.redcross.org or can be purchased at The Oceanport Swim Club for an additional fee, while supplies last.
