With so many demands on today’s families and the increased focus on early brain development, families need all the support they can get to nurture the potential of youth. That’s why child care and early learning programs at the Y focus on holistically nurturing child development by providing a safe and healthy place to learn foundational skills, develop healthy, trusting relationships and build self-reliance through the Y values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.
The Y’s Arts & Outreach team provides high quality, enriching experiences for youth and teens. Programs focus on creative arts for all ages, leadership and civic engagement activities, and service-learning travel experiences for teens.
School Age Child Care extends your child's learning day in a fun and meaningful way! With a focus on character development and healthy living, children experience academic, physical and social activities under the supervision of positive, caring role models.
The YMCA of Greater Monmouth's Child Achievement Center in Matawan provides high-quality, educational children’s programs in a safe and healthy environment.
Encouraging Healthy Habits
A leader in childhood obesity prevention, the Y is committed to keeping kids active. Through a partnership with The Horizon Foundation for New Jersey, the Healthy U health & physical activity initiative is incorporated in all YMCA of Greater Monmouth County Preschool and School Age programs for youth.
Healthy U is designed to combat childhood obesity by instituting behavioral changes in children using a multi-pronged approach that includes nutrition education, increased physical activity and a family focus. Learn more about the Healthy U program and CATCH (Coordinated Approach To Child Health).
