Wall, NJ (June 29, 2017) – The Community YMCA’s Counseling and Social Services team is now offering outpatient therapy to children and adolescents at Camp Zehnder in Wall Township. The outpatient program focuses on play therapy for children 3-12 and counseling for adolescents.
“We’re pleased to provide these services at Camp Zehnder,” said Colleen Verriest, Vice President of the Y’s Counseling and Social Services branch. “We expect to be able to make a great impact helping children and adolescents in southern Monmouth County.”
The Community YMCA’s extensive counseling services for children and adults are unique to YMCAs, said Interim CEO Andrea Plaza. “The Community YMCA is one of only a few Ys across the country that provide safe, confidential counseling services that strengthen individual growth and family life.”
Caring, certified counselors help children and adolescents address issues such as school difficulties, parent and child conflicts, trauma issues, anger management, bereavement issues and adjustment to life changes. Counseling services at Camp Zehnder are available by appointment Tuesday through Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. and on Saturday 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
In addition to the new location at Camp Zehnder, the Y has outpatient counseling services for children available throughout Monmouth County, including Keyport, Long Branch, Matawan and Union Beach, and in the Ocean County communities of Little Egg Harbor and Manahawkin. During the school year, therapeutic counseling services are available at more than 30 schools in Monmouth County.
Since 1970, the Y has been strengthening children, teens and adults living with depression, substance abuse and other difficult situations. For information on appointments and services at any Y Counseling and Services locations, call 732.290.9040 or visit TheCommunityYMCA.org.
