School is out, but help with school work will still be available this summer from The Community YMCA’s Bayshore Family Success Center.

The center will be offering assistance to area students in grades kindergarten to eighth grade at two locations – at the center in Leonardo and the Union Beach Library.

The free community education program will be offered in July and August to help keep kids engaged in learning in the summer with the help of high school tutors ready to assist with any summer packets assigned by teachers.

Alicia Maresco, Volunteer and Community Partnership Coordinator for the center, said this program “helps increase test scores and raise self-confidence, which are both huge achievements.”

Students will be able to receive assistance on Saturdays, from 10 a.m. to noon, as follows:

Bayshore Family Success Center
Henry Hudson Trail Activity Center, 945 State Highway 36, Leonardo
July 18 – English & Language Arts
August 1 – Math

Union Beach Library
801 Union Avenue, Union Beach
July 25 – English & Language Arts
August 8 – Math

The program is another way the Y is helping young people “Hop the Gap,” which refers to barriers related to learning, particularly during the summer break.

Registration for this program is required. Please call 732.497.3811 or e-mail familysuccess@cymca.org.
