Red Bank, NJ (January 19, 2015) – Linda Ambis, Vice President of Health and Wellness at The Community YMCA, today was presented the Community Leadership Award by the Community Collaborative of Red Bank at the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Commemorative Celebration.
The celebration took place at Pilgrim Baptist Church in Red Bank.
Ambis oversees operations of the Y’s flagship facility in Red Bank and a new offsite aquatics facility in Wall. A cause-driven leader, Linda is involved with many community strengthening initiatives, including the Mayor’s Wellness Campaign in Red Bank and Shaping Red Bank. Linda also volunteers in her local community through organizations such as the local hospital and with programs that support children with Autism and cancer survivor services. Additionally, Linda volunteers as a leadership coach for YMCA of the USA where she mentors leaders and assists with staff development programs.
Linda got her start at The Community YMCA 16 years ago as a community based social worker. Prior to her YMCA career, she worked in juvenile judicial system and crisis intervention services.
Linda holds a Master’s Degree in Social Work from Fordham University and a Bachelor’s Degree from Roanoke College. She serves as an Adjunct Professor in the Graduate School of Social Work at Stockton College and is a Fellow of Lead New Jersey, where she is the Chair of the Alumni Committee.
Risa Clay, Principal at Red Bank Regional High School, was also honored with the Community Leadership Award today.
The Community Collaborative of Red Bank is comprised of churches, agencies and schools working together for the civic wellness of Red Bank and beyond.
