Red Bank, NJ (Sept. 7 2018) – The inaugural Red Bank 5k Classic event attracted well over 1,000 runners to downtown Red Bank on June 16, raising $20,000 to support youth programs at The Community YMCA and Red Bank Parks & Recreation.

Race organizers presented the donation to the Y and Red Bank Recreation on Tuesday, Aug. 28, at Riverside Gardens Park, before the last showing of the outdoor summer movie series. Each organization received $10,000 to help keep Red Bank children healthy and active.

“The Community YMCA is grateful for the support of youth development programs that help our young people learn, grow and thrive at the Red Bank Y,” said President & CEO Laurie Goganzer. “We commend the Red Bank Business Alliance, Red Bank RiverCenter and the Borough Council for bringing the community together for this successful event.”

In addition to the 5K road race through Red Bank, the event featured a kids’ run, health and wellness activities in Marine Park and after-party at Red Rock Tap + Grill.

Next year’s Red Bank Classic 5K will take place on June 15, 2019. Early registration opens December 2018.
