AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMS

We offer students in a number of area school districts the opportunity to participate in specialized after school enrichment programs held right at their own school! Clubs are held for students in grades K-8 and take place once a week for 6-8 week sessions.

Harmony School- The Art of Color

Y-Clubs 2017-2018

Through hands-on exploration, your young artists will love learning and experiencing the world of color. In this club, children will engage in the process of creating multiple works of art using different techniques and materials while analyzing the work on color of renowned artists such as Pablo Picasso, Vincent van Gogh and others. The Y?s Art of Color Club creates a platform for children to develop a language of self-expression while enhancing self-awareness skills by integrating the art of color to achieve social and academic success. Each child will create his/her own masterpiece using watercolors, paints, pastels and pencils, among others.

Can you build a car? Children will use common, everyday items to design and build whatever their minds can create. The program is divided into a series of projects where children will complete daily tasks and goals leading up to a final project. Each day, projects like making something float, will combine environmental principles, elements of design and basic engineering principles. The class culminates with a demo day, where children will share inventions and discoveries.

Give your student the gift of art! Artists gain a competitive edge while developing their skills in various areas of two-dimensional art. The Y?s Altered Art Club provides a platform for building confidence and self-esteem in each student. Each week we will explore different artistic media, artists, and create our own master pieces by applying what we have learned. Students will touch upon many mediums professional artists use including: drawing pencils, watercolors, pastels, printmaking and paint to complete their weekly projects.

This unique club focuses on the art of cartooning. It supports critical thinking, problem finding and solving, and engaging students in an expressive exchange of ideas. Creating a story book requires developing an overall idea, writing/drawing a script with actions and dialogue, and transferring that idea into pages. Create new worlds and learn new art media and techniques. Students will spend time working with both traditional drawing tools and other mixed media materials. The Cartooning Club sets the stage for children to develop a language of expression while enhancing self-awareness and self-management skills through the integration of art and cartooning to achieve social and academic success.

Creative Play will help students develop an awareness and appreciation of the visual experience and of the limitless possibilities for making things. In this club, your child?s imagination will be challenged through creative collaboration of paint, sculpture, drawing, fiber work and print making. Young Artists will explore texture, color and techniques through a variety of different media and collaborative learning. Students will exercise their imagination through storytelling, sharing and learning. So join us for an engaging visual quest to explore and experience the power of art.
