Wall, NJ (July 14, 2017) – The Community YMCA is introducing a triathlon for kids and teens at Camp Zehnder in Wall Township on Saturday, Aug. 26 from 8 to 10 a.m. The inaugural triathlon called “Kids Tri for the Y” will provide a unique experience for children and teens to help support their community.
“We are so excited to be hosting the event at our beautiful Camp Zehnder,” said Barry Martin, Vice President of Health, Wellness and Camping. “The triathlon will not only give young people an opportunity to challenge themselves but also to give back to the community.” Martin said proceeds from the event will benefit The Community YMCA’s Annual Campaign, which provides summer camp scholarships to children in need and support for LIVESTRONG® at the YMCA, a physical activity and well-being program to help adult cancer survivors achieve their holistic health goals.
The triathlon will include a swim in the outdoor pool at the Lass Aquatics Center, a trail bike ride, and trail run through Camp Zehnder’s sprawling wooded trails. Registration is open to teens and kids 16 years and under at www.TheCommunityYMCA.org. The fee is $35 in advance and $45 the day of the event. The fee includes a t-shirt, refreshments and awards. Participants are encouraged to bring their own trail bike; a limited supply of trail bikes may be reserved during registration.
Kids Tri for the Y is sponsored by The Community YMCA Aquarockets swim team, one of the Y’s longest supporters of funding for community programs. Both swim team members and LIVESTRONG participants will be volunteering at the event.
“As a nonprofit charitable organization, The Community YMCA is dedicated to nurturing the potential of all children and helping everyone live healthier regardless of their ability to pay the full cost for membership, programs and services,” said Interim CEO Andrea Plaza. “We appreciate the community’s support for our Annual Campaign, which makes it possible for the Y to provide access to life-changing programs like summer day camp and LIVESTRONG.”
Event sponsorships are available and in-kind donations of food and beverages are welcome by contacting email@example.com. To learn more about the race, visit www.TheCommunityYMCA.org or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org.
